Lynn Black – Electric City Special Needs Hockey Bio
I am a married mom of 3 amazing kids who all live with exceptionalities. While I did not grow up with & still don’t have a love for the game of hockey. I do have a passion for helping individuals with special needs succeed in the things they choose to do with their lives. My family, Liam (13), Kiera (11) and Quinn (6)each of whom live with different exceptionalities my husband Jeff and I have been involved with Special Needs Hockey through SHI for more than 6 years. We as a family love the atmosphere this team brings to the arena and to our community.
I have a passion for helping others. I have been helping connect other families to community services & supports that are available to families with exceptional individuals & I have a passion for sharing the knowledge I have gathered in my own endeavors.
I have worked at PRHC as a Medical Secretary for the last 13 years and love my job. I am also a registered volunteer with Christian Horizons Central East District office here in Peterborough & I believe in their mission of building a community of belonging, which basically means that people with exceptional needs are not just included because they are somewhere, but they are missed when they are not.
No matter where we come from or the exceptionalities we live with, we are people first & we belong to this amazing community.
